WG Energy Wins Solid-State Transformer Technology Innovation AQM Award 2026 at TÜV Rheinland Summit

On September 3, Dr. Hao Xiang, Founder & CEO of WG Energy, spoke at the 12th TÜV Rheinland “Quality First” Energy Storage Summit in Suzhou. He delivered a keynote on SST commercialization and joined a leadership panel on the industry’s next phase.

At the ceremony, WG Energy received the 2026 “Quality First” Solid-State Transformer Innovation Award — recognition from TÜV Rheinland for our technological innovation and commercialization progress in SST.

14 Years of Grit: From Lab to Industry
Dr. Hao emphasized two words: persistence and focus.
Our core team brings over 14 years of experience in high-power power electronics. We chose the SST path long before the market recognized its potential.
Today, the energy landscape is shifting toward DC, high-voltage, and flexible systems. SST — with its bi-directional control, high-frequency efficiency, and intelligent routing — is poised to bridge the AC-DC divide and upgrade traditional distribution grids.
The industry moved from pilot (2000–2025) to mass-scale deployment (2025 onward). The real inflection point? Delivering SST solutions that outperform conventional alternatives on both reliability and economics — creating measurable value for customers.

Multi-Scenario Deployment: From World Firsts to Scale
We’ve delivered commercial SST projects across multiple core scenarios:
PV Grid Connection – World‘s first commercial distributed PV SST grid-tied project (10.2 MW) in Nanjing, enabling cross-site green power direct connection and virtual power plant aggregation for a zero-carbon park.
EV Ultra-Fast Charging – World’s first commercial SST-direct hybrid charging station (Kunshan). Additional projects in Ordos, Nanning, and Linyi validated long-term overload capability and high-precision energy routing.
V2G Integration – Projects with State Grid Yinchuan and Guangdong expressway service areas demonstrated grid-support and V2G capabilities.
Data Center Storage – World’s first SST-direct storage plant (Chongqing, 1.2MW/2.4MWh), validating high-efficiency bi-directional power flow.
Extreme Conditions – Tacheng, Xinjiang (-30°C) proved long-term reliability; Handan Steel became the world’s first 100MWh-class SST-direct storage plant.
Distribution Networks – Flexible interconnection clusters in Guangdong and Amsterdam validated SST’s grid flexibility and DC networking capabilities.
The road ahead: We stay focused on full-scenario, full-condition validation — driving SST toward large-scale commercialization.
