Preamble

 

Foreword Amid the global wave of energy transition, how can clean energy be efficiently integrated into power systems to unlock greater industrial value? Recently, leveraging its core capabilities in "digitalization + power electronics", WG Energy has joined hands with Baiyun Power Group to develop an integrated demonstration project of a PV-Storage-DC-Flexible-Charging advanced distribution network that combines scientific research and industrialization. The project has achieved groundbreaking leadership in key technologies and integrated applications such as Solid State Transformer (SST), setting a new benchmark for efficient, clean and flexible energy utilization.

Centered on SST

WG Energy Builds an "Integrated Demonstration Benchmark"

 

Centered at the Baiyun Power Technology Building, this project constructs a 750V DC bus based on SST, integrating flexible charging stacks, photovoltaic (PV) power and energy storage systems via the DC bus. It has successfully built an integrated demonstration station featuring SST, PV Power, 3rd-generation energy storage, ultra-fast charging, flexible charging piles, V2G vehicle-grid interaction,  system simulation, energy management and a digital twin platform. This has become a typical benchmark project of WG Energy in South China for integrated energy solutions centered on SST.

 

 

 

As the core of the project, the SST realizes high-efficiency bidirectional power conversion between 10kV AC and 750V DC, establishing an AC/DC hybrid flexible distribution network framework.

 

This breakthrough not only improves energy conversion efficiency but also enables precise control and coordinated operation of PV, energy storage, charging facilities and other components, making power dispatch as intelligent and flexible as "network routing".

Guangzhou’s First Demonstration Project of SST Connected to 10kV Distribution Network

 

This project is Guangzhou’s first demonstration project of SST connected to a 10kV distribution network, pioneering the adaptive retrofitting of new energy technologies into traditional power systems. It serves as a demonstration site for enhancing distribution efficiency and upgrading the distribution network toward intelligence, visualization and flexibility.

 

 

 

The project adopts 10kV power supply and is equipped with: - One newly installed 1250kVA SST, One set of 192kW/385kWh matrix DC energy storage cabinet a total of 12 parking spaces. Among the charging facilities: 1 unit of 120kW full-DC V2G charging pile, 1 unit of 750kW ultra-high-power fast-charging terminal, 2 standard ultra-fast charging terminals, and 3 dual-gun fast-charging terminals.

WG Energy Expands Technological Value Across Industries

 

The PV-Storage-DC-Flexible-Charging project at Baiyun Power Building is more than a "single-point demonstration". Through replicable technologies and models, it radiates the innovative value of WG Energy’s SST across multiple sectors:

 

Commercial Buildings: By applying SST, energy storage and V2G technologies, bidirectional power conversion between 10kV AC and 750V DC is realized, improving energy conversion efficiency and helping customers save energy and reduce consumption. It continuously builds "benchmark cases" for WG Energy to serve commercial scenarios.

 

Industrial Parks: Based on SST technology, AI-based intelligent control optimizes power flow directions to build a new-generation green energy system, reducing reliance on traditional energy and demonstrating WG Energy’s solution capabilities in the industrial energy sector.

 

Public Institutions: With full-lifecycle monitoring and control via the energy management system, it improves energy utilization efficiency for universities, hospitals and other public facilities, expanding WG Energy’s public service boundaries.

 

Rail Transit: The project promotes technical verification of SST in DC distribution networks, supports coordinated operation of urban rail transit and power grids, and further strengthens WG Energy’s technological advantages in special energy applications.

 

Through the revolutionary technology of SST, the PV-Storage-DC-Flexible-Charging advanced distribution network project at Baiyun Power Building by WG Energy has realized a conceptual innovation from "traditional power supply" to "intelligent energy utilization". This technology not only addresses the challenges of high-penetration new energy integration but also creates a new form of power distribution and consumption system. It contributes the “WG Solution" to the construction of a new-type power system and leads the arrival of the energy internet era.
