300 MWh Electricity, 890 Consecutive Days of Zero-Fault Operation – WG Energy’s Solid-State Transformer (SST) Delivers Real-World Results in EV Charging

time:2026-05-20   read:9

Preamble

Efficient operation at a single charging station validates technical feasibility; cluster-scale stable deployment across diverse scenarios proves true maturity. In Jiangsu Province, WG Energy has quietly built a charging network centered on Solid-State Transformer (SST) technology, covering power supply stations, gas stations, middle schools, ultra-fast hybrid stations and other multi-scenario applications.

Among them, four early deployed passenger vehicle charging stations have accumulated more than 890 days of operation, delivered a total charging capacity of 3 million kWh, and maintained a peak charging efficiency of over 95%. Most notably, all four stations have achieved zero-fault operation since commissioning (as of early March 2026).

01
Defining Performance with Real-World Data

The following real-world operating data is from WG Energy four early SST charging stations in Jiangsu Province, as of early March 2026:

· Cumulative Operating Hours: Total operation exceeds 890 days; the longest single-station runtime reaches 396 days.

· Single-Gun Daily Charging Capacity: Up to 347.64 kWh (passenger vehicle station).

· Cumulative Charging Volume: Approaching 3 million kWh, equivalent to an 870,000-liter reduction in fuel consumption and approximately 2,180 tons of CO₂ emission reduction.

· Zero failure rate: Zero unplanned outages affecting station operation across all sites.

WG Energy + Efficiency:

Benchmark for Integrated Fuel-Electric Stations

As a representative integrated energy station for “refueling + charging”, Kunshan West Huancheng Road SST Direct-Connection Charging Station adopts WG Energy’s 1.25 MW SST to replace a conventional transformer as its core power supply solution, equipped with 20 × 250A ultra-fast charging terminals.

Key Highlights

The SST is directly connected to the 10 kV grid and outputs a 750 V DC bus for centralized power supply to all charging equipment. Its single-stage AC-DC conversion architecture eliminates multi-stage links (transformer step-down + AC/DC conversion) in conventional systems, reducing power loss by 3%–5% at the source.

03

WG Energy + Stability:

A Milestone of Year-Round Uninterrupted Service

A power supply station SST Direct-Connection Ultra-Fast Hybrid Charging Station in southern Jiangsu – the world’s first commercial SST charging station – has been stably operating for 396 consecutive days, with 1 × 360 kW ultra-fast charging terminal and 6 × 120 kW dual-gun chargers.

It delivers an annual charging capacity of approximately 1.65 million kWh, supporting power supply for about 20,000 electric vehicles (based on 80 kWh battery capacity per vehicle).

04

WG Energy + Safety:
Proven Reliability in High-Risk Environments

Sunan Gas Station SST Direct-Connection Charging Station has been in stable operation for 177 days since September 15, 2025, equipped with 14 × 250A fast-charging terminals and a cumulative charging volume of 263,000 kWh.

Located adjacent to an operating gas station, the site imposes extremely high electrical safety requirements. The sustained zero-fault performance of WG Energy SST under nearly half a year of high-intensity operation strongly validates its ultra-high safety in “gas-to-electric” scenarios.

05

Reliability Engineering Behind Zero-Fault Performance

WG Energy SST achieves low failure rates and high efficiency through industry-leading design:

· Full SiC Technology: 3rd-generation semiconductor SiC devices + soft-switching technology minimize losses, reduce thermal stress, and extend service life.

· Modular Redundancy: Failure of a single power module does not disrupt station operation; modules support online hot-swap replacement.

· Full-Sealed Protection: Core power units feature IP54 protection, resistant to high temperature and dust in charging station environments.

· Digital Twin Monitoring: Real-time cloud-based monitoring of core component health, predictive early warning, and proactive maintenance.

Conclusion

Strong performance at one station may be a showcase; four stations across four scenarios with over 890 days of zero-fault operation represents true large-scale validation.

While the industry still debates the technical feasibility of SSTs, WG Energy has already proven its commercial inevitability with customer operating data. SST brings charging operators not only higher efficiency, but also reliable year-round safe and stable operation.

As electrification accelerates, WG Energy is ready to partner with more stakeholders to build a more efficient and intelligent charging network with reliable equipment and verifiable data, maximizing the value of every kilowatt-hour of electricity.
